This page contains notes on data used to create graphs on this website.
All data on this website is automatically downloaded from the Governments COVID Dashboard at 18:00 and 21:00 everyday. The data is then used to produce the graphs. All code that is used to produce the graphs can be downloaded from my Github page.
I pull the data twice daily because the 18:00 data pull doesn’t always contain data for that day. By doing the second 21:00 pull I can be confident that the graphs contain data from the current day. I like to do the 18:00 data pull to ensure that the graphs are up to date at the earliest opportunity however, this doesn’t always work especially during busy times when it takes longer for the government to process the data.
Age profiled data lags by about 1 week. You will notice this when looking at the graphs for this data and all line of best fits for all graphs is taken over a 7 day average. The last 7 days are not averaged as the data could be incomplete for this period. This means that the trend lines on age profiled data is about 2 weeks behind.
All data on this website is for England only and may differ slightly from mainstream media reports as they release aggregated data for the whole of the UK.
